Delmar DeLloyd Dahl, age 95, died on Sunday, October 16, 2022.

Delmar was born in Columbus, North Dakota, on October 1, 1927. He attended Bethel College (St. Paul, MN), where he met his wife Barbara Carlson, and graduated from Bethel Seminary in 1950. He and Barbara were married on August 26, 1950, and they served several congregations in Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, North Dakota, and British Columbia. Delmar was also a district executive in the Minnesota Baptist Conference, and in retirement, he served as chaplain at Scandia Village Good Samaritan in Sister Bay, WI.

Delmar loved to preach, take people to lunch, and accompany those who had suffered a loss or were terminally ill. He was famous for the brief notes of encouragement he wrote—to presidents, high school athletes, ministry colleagues, community members, and friends he hadn’t met yet.

Delmar is rejoicing to be reunited with his beloved wife Barbara; his dear granddaughter Olivia Martin Dahl; and his parents, sister, nephew, and brothers- and sister-in-law. Among the many who mourn his passing are his children and their families: Craig and Vicki Dahl and their family Kirstin Dahl and Nicolas Rauline; Emily Dahl and Jonathan Lindsley and their children Thoren and Ylva; Jonathon Dahl and his fiancée Emily Clark; and Amy and Jeff Stress. Carla Dahl and Tom Papesh and their family Katie Dahl and Rich Higdon and their son Guthrie. Cory and Darla Dahl and their family Lydia and Jon Bugli and their children Benjamin and Ella; Peter Dahl; and Timothy and Olivia Dahl. Collin and Jennifer Dahl. In addition, nephews Steven Breding, Clayton Carlson, and Mark Carlson and their spouses and children.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Sister Bay, WI. A time of gathering with the family will begin at 1 p.m. and end with a brief service at 3 p.m.

Delmar will be laid to rest in Little Sister Cemetery in the Town of Liberty Grove beside his wife Barbara.
