Obituary: Delores LaCrosse

July 31, 1934 ~ April 7, 2021

Delores Mae LaCrosse 86, of Sevastopol, died on April 7, 2021, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay. She was born July, 31,1934, in Sugarbush to Mike and Laura (DeGrand) Mertens. On April 7, 1951, she married Mervin J. LaCrosse in Sugarbush, he preceded her in death on June 7, 1994.

Delores meant a lot to a great many people, but more importantly, her children meant the world to her. She loved her grandchildren with all of her heart but she absolutely adored her great grandchildren with all her being. She taught everyone a little something about a lot of things, and enjoyed spending her time camping, gardening, canning, bowling, polka dancing, playing card games, playing bingo, or trying her luck at the slots. She volunteered at the food pantry at her church, giving her time and heart to local friends. She was adventurous, continuing her trips around the country as the motorhome Captain, no longer the Co-Pilot after the passing of her husband Mervin, showing us that carrying on was far more valuable than cashing in! With no time to save up on life, she spent it all!  Never a loss for words or advice, always with the best of intentions, and quick to receive a loving hug, the best example of what being a matriarch really meant.

Delores is survived by 3 daughters, Jean Kabitzke, Sturgeon Bay; Julaine (Paul) Spude, Sturgeon Bay; Joyce (Zeno) Denil Preimesberger, Algoma; 8 grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Lautenbach, Melissa (Dan) Emery, John (Kim) Denil, Janette (Rob) Hampton, Matthew (Megan) Spude, Jamee (Nathan) Haslam, Joe (Jenny) Denil, Lora (Keith) Falish; 20 great-grandchildren: J.J., Brandyn, (Ali), Samantha, Maddie, Gabe, Lauren, Dylan, Lydia, Ashlyn, Alec, Karissa, Jack, Tyler, Brooklyn, Peyton, Ryker, Jax, Brielle, and Beckett; 4 sisters, Rita LeGrave, Marcella Kaye, MaryAnn DeBruin, Rosella (Ron) Fayas; 2 brothers, Marvin (Charlotte) Mertens, Gene (Debbie) Mertens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in law, Les Denil; 2 brothers, Richard (Evelyn) and Ervin; a sister, LaVerne (Quenton) Roberts; in-laws, Wallace LeGrave, Richard Kaye, and Don Debruin.

A public visitation will be held at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm. Face masks are required for all in attendance. Burial will take place at 10:30am on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Institute
