Obituary: Dennis D. Anschutz

Feb. 23, 1951 – May 12, 2024

Dennis D. Anschutz, 73, of Little Sturgeon, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by family on May 12, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 23, 1951, in Sturgeon Bay to Alvin and Marjorie (Albert) Anschutz.

Dennis graduated from Southern Door High School in 1969 and then attended barber school in Green Bay. On July 31, 1971, he married JoAnn Wiltz at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. In 1973, he started his own barbershop in Sturgeon Bay, The Razor’s Edge, where he barbered for 52 years. In 1998, his daughter Misty joined him as a hair stylist, working side by side with Dennis for twenty-five years.

As an avid outdoorsman, Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting and gardening. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and mentoring them in all the things he was passionate about. He was a long time and active member at Whitetails Unlimited where he received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Dennis also loved spending time at his cabin in Dunbar, socializing with family and friends and taking “side by side” road trips with JoAnn.

Survivors include his wife and 3 children, Holly Anschutz (Greg Nelson), Culley (Robin) Anschutz, and Misty (Joe) Torp; 6 grandchildren, Cole Torp (Desirae Guilette), Drew DeClark, Lance Torp, Abigail DeClark, Cruz Anschutz, and Amira Anschutz; sister Bonnie (Dick) Wilke, sister-in-law Ardy Anschutz, and in-laws Michael (Lisa) Wiltz. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Alton Anschutz.
