Obituary: Dolores ‘Dee’ G. Brandt

Dolores “Dee” G. Brandt, 84, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away early Thursday morning, November 9, 2017 at Sturgeon Bay Health Services (formerly Golden Living Center-Dorchester).

She was born January 24, 1933 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Cecilia Armstrong. Upon her graduation from high school, she went to study at college for two years. She met her husband-to-be, Ronald James Brandt, who was studying at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. They were united in marriage in 1953 and shared nearly 34 years of marriage.

Ron and Dee enjoyed hosting many friends for parties at their home and socializing with friends at pubs and restaurants. She always welcomed everyone with a smile. Dee loved shopping; she was a true master shopper to say the least! She had a passion for southwestern jewelry! Dee had a great appreciation for the local artists’ wears in Arizona where she lived for a period of time and made sure to visit as many times as she could, and did her collection ever grow! She really enjoyed the warm, sunshine state! Dee liked collecting Oriental antiques from all of her travels with Ron, which she proudly displayed in her homes. She visited family in Wisconsin and always did it in “Dee” style in her decked-out RV’s along with her devoted and stylish two little dogs. In her later years, she enjoyed going for car rides with family and friends and loved to see the ducks and geese near the water; and no ride was complete without stopping for ice cream!

One of her favorite holidays was Christmas. Everything had to sparkle even her Santa displays!

This holiday season, Dee will be remembered in spirit by her two sons, Phillip Brandt of Fish Creek and Thomas (Sharon) Brandt of Mount Horeb; four grandchildren, Cece and Scott (Clara) Bakken and Jeff (Santhia) and Samantha Brandt; six great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Tim Bakken; and other dear friends.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald (1987); daughter, Laurie Bakken (2007); and grandson, Colin Brandt (2017).

Her life will be honored with a memorial service held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Juddville, 4167 Juddville Rd., Fish Creek, WI 54212 with Pastor Frank Kauzlarich officating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison, beside her husband. Committal service arrangements will be announced closer to the date.

Friends may visit at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.

Memorials may be given in Dolores’ name for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or your local Humane Society.

“Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks out to the staffs of Pine Crest Village, Sturgeon Bay Health Services, and Compassus Hospice for their care given to Dee and our family.”
