Obituary: Dorothy Mary Miller

March 20, 1929 ~ October 15, 2020

Dorothy Mary Miller, 91, of Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully early Thursday morning, October 15, 2020 at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay.

She was born March 20, 1929 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (nee Maziarz) Wolfe. Dorothy grew up attending St. Casimir Parish and attended Riverside High School where she played the harp and piano. She initially worked for Wisconsin Telephone Company, then Gimbels Department Store in phone orders and personal shopping, before going to work for Columbia Hospital as a Phlebotomist.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert Edward Miller on May 20, 1950 at her home parish of St. Casimir. Together, their family attended Saints Peter and Paul Parish in the Upper East Side of Milwaukee where Dorothy enjoyed playing volleyball and going out for pizza with other ladies from  the church.

Dorothy was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed by her husband, Bob; son and daughter, Ed (Sandy) Miller of Baileys Harbor and Kathy (Bill) Kranz of Mequon; two grandsons, Chris Kranz of Mequon and Mike (Julie) Kranz of Grafton; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Kranz; two sisters, Nancy Wilburth of New Berlin and Carol Ziebell of Menomonee Falls; and other relatives.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Helen “Mickey” (Ken) Stoffer and Marion (Bob) Brown; brothers-in-law, Ken Stoffer, Karl Ziebell and Chuck Wilburth.

Her life will be honored with a funeral service held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, in Sturgeon Bay with Fr. Thomas Farrell, of Stella Maris Parish, officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Huehns Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Dorothy will be laid to rest in Wisconsin Memorial Park 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI 53005 with a graveside committal service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

Those attending services for Dorothy are to wear face masks and maintain social distancing.
