Dr. Thomas W. Tully, born September 29, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois. Peacefully died August 29, 2021 in Lake Forest, Illinois at the age of 93. Longtime resident of Park Ridge, Illinois and 38-year Physician of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Resurrection Health Care, Chicago, Illinois. Preceded in death by his parents William and Anna (Pekow) Tully. Survived by his wife Victoria M., (nee Corsiglia), their children; Martha (Dr. Bruce) Summerville, Dr. Thomas William Tully, Jr., Jane Mylet, Jeanne (Patrick) Brennan; 10 grandchildren; Maeve, Macartan, Rory, Finola, Jaclyn, Mia, Alexandra, Lucas, Myles, Nolan; and his brothers, Gerald (Margaret) Tully; the late Edward (Rose) Tully and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Wonderful uncle, friend and colleague to all who knew him.
Raised on Chicago’s Northwest Side, Dr. Tully attended St. Ferdinand Grade School, DePaul Academy High School and Loyola University of Chicago. In 1946, he served in the United States Army. He graduated from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in 1952 and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Boston City Hospital. In 1957, he joined the medical staff at Resurrection Hospital until his retirement in 1995. His commitment to his patients and the 5,000 babies he delivered during his long career will never be forgotten. In 1975, Dr. Tully, along with his partners, Dr. Oleck and Dr. Tomasik, were especially proud to deliver the Shaf Quintuplets born at Resurrection Hospital.
Thomas and Victoria were married for 59 years. They resided in Park Ridge for over 32 years. During retirement, they spent many active years in Door County, Wisconsin and Estero, Florida. Thomas enjoyed golf, tennis, fishing and bridge. A lifelong sports fan, nothing made him happier than watching his children and grandchildren play high school and college sports especially tennis, volleyball, basketball, golf and baseball. He enjoyed cheering for Chicago sports teams. He was a devoted husband and father who’s faith in God never wavered even during his recent battle with cancer. His love, loyalty, values and wisdom are his lasting gifts to his family, friends and grandchildren. We will miss his kindness, Irish wit, blue eyes and great smile.
Visitation will be held at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, 120 S. Northwest Hwy., Park Ridge, on Wed., Sept. 8, from 3-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Sept. 9 at Church of St. Mary’s, Lake Forest, Illinois, at 10 a.m. Mass can be viewed online at: https://www.facebook.com/ChurchofStMaryLF/ A private interment will be in Door County, Wisconsin.
