Obituary: Edward ‘Ed’ Ebel

Edward “Ed” Ebel, 58, of Elms Road, Sturgeon Bay, lost his year-long battle with esophageal cancer July 30, 2017.  He was the youngest in the family born on August 11, 1958, to Melvin and Geraldine Ebel, in Rice Lake, Wis.  Ed moved with the family to Sturgeon Bay  in 1965, when Ed was seven.  On August 18, 1984, he married Patt A. Magle.  Ed was self-employed in the tanning business for many years.

Ed’s man cave was a “state of the art kitchen” where he enjoyed entertaining family and friends with his home-cooking, canning, and sausage making.  He was also a skilled carpenter and enjoyed gardening, boating with the kids, country music, and following the Packers.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Paula (Damian) Evans, Cedarburg, WI; Jason Cihlar, Sturgeon Bay; three grandchildren, Antonio, Maya, and Elena; siblings, Yvonne (Tom) Sheley, Two Rivers; Greg (Sue) Ebel, Joann (Dan) Cihlar, Judy (Dean) Schumacher, Sandy (William) Wiesner, all of Sturgeon Bay; mother-in-law, Fern Magle; brothers-in-law, Glenn (Sandi) Magle, Ray Magle; sister-in-law, Karen Classon and her significant other, Kirk Ciorba.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, Glenn Magle.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Ed’s life from 1-4 pm on August 13, 2017, at the Sherwood Point Grill (formally the Fishing Hole).  Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com.
