Obituary: Elsbeth “Muffin” Knutson

May 27, 1932 ~ January 7, 2021

Our beloved mother, Elsbeth A. Knutson died January 7, 2021.  She was born May 27, 1932, in Valmy, WI to Rev. Otto and Gretchen Henning.  After graduating Valedictorian from Sevastopol High School, she worked at the Door County Advocate and the Bank of Sturgeon Bay.  Elsbeth was married by her father to James Knutson on May 22, 1954 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Valmy. He preceded in her death May 3, 2014.

Elsbeth was known as “Muffin” to all who knew and loved her.  She chose to write her own obituary, but to her friends and family, she was so much more than what she has written.

For most of their married life, Elsbeth and Jim worked together in their insurance agency and maintained an apple and cherry orchard and later a tree farm in Door County.  In 2005 they moved to Green Bay to be nearer to their family.

Elsbeth was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Rebecca, and a great-grandson.  She is survived by five children: Constance (Dennis) Christenson, Lisa, Andrea (Tim Andre), Elizabeth and Peter; grandchildren: Elliot (Gina), Eric (Ann), Justin (Michelle), Corey (Jennifer), Brandon (Kristen), Sadie, Cooper and Hattie; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
