Obituary: Evelyn B. Ohlrogge

Evelyn Barbara Ohlrogge, 90, of Sturgeon Bay passed away at the Skilled Nursing Facility on May 9, 2020.  She was born July 10, 1929 in Fish Creek to Nicolas and Praxie (Zak) Smith. Evelyn was a graduate of Gibraltar High School and enjoyed many years of planning and attending her class reunions.  On June 24, 1950, she married Clifford R. Ohlrogge at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Baileys Harbor.

Evelyn enjoyed many years of Polka dancing with her husband in numerous dance halls around the state.  They also travelled extensively across the country and into Canada.   She enjoyed apple picking in the fall and occasional trips to the Casinos.  She especially loved the time she spent babysitting for her granddaughters when they were young. 

Survivors include her husband, daughter Valerie (Lee) Mosgaller of Sturgeon Bay; three granddaughters, Julie (Peter) Ericksen, Jill (Brett) Behrendt, and Jaclyn (Connor) Martin; seven great-grandchildren: Matthias, Dominic, Avila, Siena and Felix Ericksen; Cambren and Luca Behrendt.  She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters: Sebastian (Edna) Smith, Bernice (Joe) Kust, Sylvia (Levi) Bahr and Alvin Smith.

Due to current public health restrictions, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at Corpus Christ Church with Rev. Ryan Krueger officiating.  Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.  Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.   On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com
