Obituary for Joan Lucile Isaksen

Joan Lucile Isaksen, 58, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, recently passed away at her home in St. Nazianz. She had been battling cancer the past four years.

She was born October 2, 1956, in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late Harold Asbjorn and Lucile (Shorter) Isaksen. Joan attended Sturgeon Bay High School through her junior year and graduated from high school in West Allis. She worked various jobs throughout her life including managing a fitness club, working in construction, selling cars and insurance, working security for the Green Bay Packers (during their first renovation), and in repair for Point Beach Nuclear Plant. She had a bright mind, which allowed her to work well in so many different careers.

Joan liked gardening and always enjoyed a good bargain. She definitely lived life her way. Above all, Joan had a huge heart and a great love for animals, always willing to adopt and care for them before herself.

She is survived by her two brothers, Harold (Sandy) Isaksen, Henry (Jean) Isaksen, both of Sturgeon Bay; sister, Judy Holby of Powder Springs, GA; two nephews, Jeff (Bridget) Isaksen, Marc (Nicky) Isaksen, both of Sturgeon Bay; niece, Heather (Kevin) McNamara of Marietta, GA; great-nephews; great-nieces; and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Isaksen; and brother-in-law, Mike Holby.

At Joan’s request, no public services will be held. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in her memory for the Door County Humane Society (3475 County Road PD, P.O. Box 93, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235).

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Huehns Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Sturgeon Bay. Condolences and guestbook signing may be offered at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.
