Obituary: Gail (McGrath) Bowman

April 17, 1935 ~ January 14, 2021

Gail (McGrath) Bowman, born April 17, 1935, died at her home on Thursday, January 14, 2021. After a long battle with multiple cancer complications, she finally let go after a stubborn fight – some of which left those wonderful angels from Unity Hospice scratching their heads.

Mom was smart, hard-working and witty but a bit lippy. Not usually a question as to what she was thinking. Born and raised in Milwaukee, Gail was the daughter of the late George McGrath and Eileen Kotlewsky. She trained in Milwaukee to be an X-ray Technician but proceeded to meet her husband, Robert Bowman (after a questionable first blind date), had babies and moved to Green Bay. Gail then persued a career as a clerk receptionist on the surgical floors for over 35 years at St. Vincent Hospital. The girls used to joke that they’d come from all the floors for help because Gail could decipher all the doctor’s signatures and orders.

Relatives still at large: daughter, Cheryl (Ken) Maggle; sister, Mary (John) Reynolds; nieces, Ali and Sara Reynolds.

Family that left before Gail: husband, Robert L. Bowman; son, Alan Bowman; and brother, Paul McGrath.

Visitation will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park, 1350 N. Military Ave., from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 19; followed by a Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow. All in attendance are required to properly wear masks. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. Expressions of Sympathy may be shared at www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com, or cards may be sent to Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay WI 54303 to the attention of Gail Bowman’s family and they will be forwarded.

We’ll miss her greatly. Until we meet again.
