Obituary: Genevieve (Anderson) Moore

September 11, 1920 ~ December 26, 2022

Genevieve Moore, 102, of Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully on Monday, December 26, 2022 at Sturgeon Bay Health Services.

She was born September 11, 1920 in Sturgeon Bay, daughter of the late James and Mathilda (Will) Anderson. Genevieve graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School with the Class of 1938. She married Wilson “Bill” Moore on October 31, 1949. They lived in Green Bay and spent much of their time in Sturgeon Bay, moving permanently upon retirement in 1980. Bill passed away March 5, 1990.

Genevieve enjoyed traveling, was an avid sports fan, and was a league bowler for the Green Bay Area Bowlers for many years. She was employed in the office of Malvitz Furniture and Christy Corp during the war and later, she was a clerk at Kresge’s Store in Green Bay. She was active at Sturgeon Bay Senior Center and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Genevieve had a special love for her nieces and nephews and appreciated their kindness and concern for her very much. She loved living at Big Hill Regency House and made many dear friends while living there.

She is survived by her nephew, Jim Anderson, Gary (Debi) Anderson, and Steve Hockers; nieces, Gail Waldron, Barbara (Bob) Toellner, Nancy Mallien, Judy Chaudoir, MaryAnn Tews, and their families; and other dear relatives and friends.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mathilda Anderson; husband, Bill Moore; brothers, Milton, Oliver, Loyal, and Francis; and sisters-in-law, Alice, Vera and Grace Anderson; and niece, Shirley Hockers.

Genevieve’s life will be honored with a graveside service on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Bayside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Wisconsin Humane Society – Door County Campus.
