OBITUARY: Gloria Ann Bley

Gloria Ann Bley, 81, of West Jacksonport, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society-Scandia Village in Sister Bay.

She was born Dec. 19, 1936 in Egg Harbor, the daughter of Milton F. and Marvel A. (Schultz) Haberli. Gloria initially attended Pleasant Grove Grade School in Egg Harbor and then Fairview Grade School in West Jacksonport. She graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1955. Gloria was united in marriage to Frank W. Bley on June 17, 1961 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport where she remained a lifelong member.

She worked as a housekeeper at various Door County resorts – Egg Harbor Lodge, Maxwelton Braes in Baileys Harbor, Ephraim Shores, and Edgewater Resort in Ephraim, all while helping on the farm and taking care of her family at home.

Gloria was an avid card player. She loved to bake and made the best sweet rolls. Above all, Gloria loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Her love will live on in the hearts of her husband, Frank, with whom she was blessed with over 57 years of marriage; five children, Faye Bley of West Jacksonport, William (Patty) Bley of Jacksonport, Gail (Chuck) Nelson, Amy (Tom) Ash, both of West Jacksonport, and Carrie (Brian) Peterson of Valmy; twelve grandchildren, Juslain LuMaye, Natalie [and her daughter, Olivia], Eric, and Tony Bley, Emma (fiancé, John), Adaline, and Caleb Nelson, Franklin, Libby, and Jon Ash, and Nicholas and Nathan Peterson; sister, Audrey Hempel; siblings-in-law, Marcella Giesseman of Egg Harbor, Dennis (Mary) Bley, and Lee Bley, both of West Jacksonport; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Gloria was reunited with her parents; and sister and brother, Barbara Haberli and Joseph (Mary Lou) Haberli; siblings-in-law, Wally (Laverne) Bley, Nick (Lorna) Bley, Gordy (Eunice) Bley, Curtis (Fran) Bley, and Donald Giesseman.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, Dec. 17, 2018 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport with Pastor Peter Lindemann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3-7 pm Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with a devotion to be held at 7 pm. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday from 9:30-10:50 am.

Memorials may be given in Gloria’s name for Zion Ev. Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran School.
