Obituary: Isabelle Peters

July 28, 1929 ~ March 1, 2021

Isabelle I. Peters, 91, of Sturgeon Bay, died on March 1, 2021.  She was born July 28, 1929 in Brussels to Michael and Elsie (Oldenburg) Stauber.  She married Norman J. Vandertie on April 29, 1948.  He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1955.

For many years, Isabelle worked as a nurse’s aide in home health care industry.  She was always interested in health care and enjoyed reading about medical topics and issues.  Isabelle was a very social person who enjoyed conversations with all kinds of people and loved telling stories about growing up on the farm.  She also enjoyed watching old, classic movies.

She is survived by 4 children:  Norine (Leonard) Gunderson, Nanette (Chris) Scudder, Imogene Peters, and Ivan (MaryKay) Peters; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother Sylvester Stauber, and a sister Dorothy Walters. 

Isabelle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norman Vandertie and husband Robert Peters, her brothers: Leonard, Bernard, Lawrence, Ralph, Eugene, sisters: Grace Haack, Helen Vandertie, Annabelle Jadin, Donna Reel, Angela Cheadle, great-grandson Austin Scudder, numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A public visitation will be held at the Forbes Funeral Home on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.  A public Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels at 11:45 am.  All are required to wear face coverings and respect appropriate social distancing.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Francis and St. Mary Parish.
