Obituary: James E. Anderson

July 26, 1964 – Nov. 23, 2022

James E. Anderson, 58, of Institute, died at his home.

Jim was born in Sturgeon Bay to Ceylon and Marilyn (Kinnard) Anderson. Jim graduated from Luxemburg-Casco High School in 1983 and was employed at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding.

Jim enjoyed golfing with his friends and especially with his grandson, Andyn. Jim’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and attending sporting events and school activities with Andyn, Ella and Averi.

On Oct. 5, 2007, Jim married Nancy Wery.    

Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Meagan (Michael) Brull of Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren, Andyn, Ella, and Averi Brull; mother, Marilyn Anderson of Sturgeon Bay; three sisters, Julie (Jerry) Popour of Sturgeon Bay, Lisa Anderson of Sturgeon Bay, and Karen (Stephanie) Anderson of De Pere; nephews, Tyler Anderson, Brad Popour, and Jared Anderson; mother-in-law, Marion Wery of Sturgeon Bay; sisters-in-law, Debbie (James) Nell of Forestville, Diane Wery of Green Bay, Julie Cole of Massachusetts; and brothers-in-law, Dennis Wery of Green Bay and David Wery of Green Bay.

Jim was preceded in death by his father; brother, Scott Anderson; nephew (and godchild), Devon Anderson; father-in-law, Kenneth Wery; sister-in-law, Mary Wery; and brother-in-law, Mark Cole.    

We would like to thank Unity Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care of Jim and Door CANcer. Jim and Nancy want to thank their employers, Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding Co. and Door County Medical Center, for their compassion and understanding.

Jim’s life will be honored with a mass of Christian burial celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 29, 11 am, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute, with Fr. Robert Stegmann as celebrant. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 28, 3-7 pm, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, with a parish wake service to be held at 6:45 pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home Nov. 19, 9 am until closing prayers at 10:20 am, followed by the procession to church.
