Obituary: James H. Yorita

James H. Yorita, 89, of Sturgeon Bay, died at Golden Living Dorchester on Sept. 19, 2016.  He was born July 25, 1927.  Jim had lived in Seattle, Wash., Des Moines, Iowa, Chicago, Ill., and Flossmoor, Ill., before he and his wife retired to their favorite place to be, Sturgeon Bay.

Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army at several bases around the world after WWII.  After his honorable discharge in 1946, he began his pursuit of refining his culinary passions, working as a cook, chef and baker before finally taking over several successful establishments.

Jim was an avid fisherman, and gleefully shared his enthusiasm and knowledge about fishing with family and friends up until his final days.

Survivors include two grandsons, Richard (Michele) Dykowski, Waukesha, WI; Nicholas (Shannon) Dykowski, Gilberts, IL; two great-grandsons, Luke and Maxwell; extended family, Dean and Gayla Degrave, Denell, Tyler and Cricket Shaw and Pauline Cyrus.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Victoria; and a daughter, Mira.

Funeral services will be privately held at a later date.

Special thanks to Asera Care Hospice and the Dorchester for their loving care and support.
