Obituary: James Wesley Parsons

May 4, 1941 ~ August 5, 2021

James W. Parsons, 80, of Sturgeon Bay, died early Thursday morning August 5, 2021, at Door County Medical Center.

Jim was born May 4, 1941, in Manitowoc, the son of the late Wesley and Beatrice (Smith) Parsons.  He graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School before continuing his education at UW Madison where he received his degree in accounting and eventually earned his CPA.  Jim worked with his father and their accounting practice Parsons and Parsons in Sturgeon Bay.  This was an endeavor spanning over 50 years until Jim’s 79th birthday when he decided to retire.   He was an institution in our community of Sturgeon Bay and Door County where many young accountants, bookkeepers, and support staff started their careers becoming successful in their own life.  Jim would never have bragged about any of his accomplishments, but all those former employees made him very proud.

On June 14, 1969, Jim married Patricia Ann Kenney at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  For many years they worked together at their accounting.   Jim enjoyed coin collecting.  He was a generous, selfless man who was happy to be with his family and enjoying time together and traveling with them.

Four children survive, Brian of Madison, Megan of Sturgeon Bay, Michael (Amy Gray) of Salem, Massachusetts, and Tim (Elise) of Canton, GA; two grandchildren, Dylan Ace Patrick Parsons, Steven Alexander Parsons; two sisters, Barbara Goldman of Portland, Oregon, Marjorie (Butch) LeRoy of Tucson, AZ; and his brother, William “Bill” (Betty) Parsons of Sturgeon Bay.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Wesley and Beatrice Parsons, and his wife, Patricia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 11, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Stegmann officiating.  Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Huehns Funeral Home and at the church Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 11:00 a.m.
