Obituary: Jane Ellen Weikel McLaren

Jane Ellen (Blahnik) Weikel McLaren, 85, Sturgeon Bay, died Sun., Jan. 10, 2016.

Born Jun. 26, 1930, in Oshkosh. Graduate of Oshkosh High School and UW-Oshkosh. Former English and drama teacher in Madison and Rockford, IL. Retired to Algoma in 1988 for 25 years. Substitute taught in Algoma and Sevastopol, taught English to Hispanic Algoma residents, served as docent at the Miller Art Gallery, and volunteered with the Algoma Visitors Bureau. Former member of the Algoma and Sturgeon Bay United Methodist churches and the Door-Kewaunee Retired Teachers Assoc.

Survived by children, Bill (Debbie Mino) Austin, Laurie (Don) Miller, James Weikel, Barbara (Tom) Wilson, Mari (partner, Ken Thompson); grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by parents, Arnold and Marie (Schuhart) Blahnik; and husbands, James A. Weikel, Sr., and Robert D. McLaren.

Celebration of life at a later date with burial in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
