Obituary: Jane Esther Aho

Sept. 6, 1926 – May 1, 2024

Jane Esther Aho, age 97 of Grand Prairie, Texas, died peacefully on May 1, 2024, with her family by her side.

She was born on September 6, 1926, to the late Leonard and Ellen (Copeland) Formosa in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Jane moved to Seattle, Washington where she had her daughter, Gigi. She was an exceptional gardener. Their home in Seattle had a perfect lawn, so perfect it would look like a putting green with a white picket fence she hand painted for years.

As a single mother she could not have done a better job. She always encouraged Gigi to be whatever she wanted to be. She put her through college even though she never furthered her own education. Jane’s had unconditional love for her daughter, and it was extended to her son-in-law, Steve as well.

Jane was an avid downhill skier up until her 80’s. She was an alternative in the Squaw Valley Olympic Games for downhill skiing in 1960.

Jane enjoyed watching football, dogs, which she often spoiled when she got the chance, and going on trips with Gigi and Steve to Door County, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Texas and going to museums with them. She also enjoyed music, from playing the piano, to listening to her favorite band, The Beatles. She went to see a Beatles tribute band in Egg Harbor, where she sang every word to the songs.

Jane is survived by and will be deeply missed by her daughter, Gigi and her son-in-law, Steve Biemeret of Grand Prairie, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Leonard, Jr.
Gigi and Steve would like to thank their friends and family, as well as, Gigi’s work family at Soma for their love and support during this time.

Each time you look up in the sky or watch a fluffy cloud go by.
Or feel the sunshine warm and bright, or watch the dark night turn to light,
Or hear a bluebird gayly sing,
Or see the winter turn to spring,
Or stop to pick a daffodil,
Or gather violets on some hill,
Or touch a leaf or see a tree,
It’s all God whispering,
“This is me,
And I am faithful, and I am light and in me there shall be no night”
(Have faith there is light just ahead)
