Obituary: Janice Ellen Henquinet

July 1, 1939~January 13, 2022

Janice Ellen Henquinet, age 82, of Fish Creek, died peacefully at home after battling heart disease, Thursday, January 13, 2022, with her family at her side. She was born July 1, 1939 in Crystal Falls, MI, the only child of Rolf and Hilder (West) Johanson. 

She attended high school at Forest Park in Crystal Falls, MI, graduating in 1957. Janice was voted “Most Athletic” by her graduating class. Jan began raising her family in Michigan, they relocated to Illinois and eventually moved to Door County, WI, which she considered her true home. Janice worked for many years as a housekeeper for Scandia Village in Sister Bay. Jan was a collector of books and movies and she had a soft spot in her heart for animals. Janice was a talented artist, including painting, sculpting, wood burning and sand blasting. Hunting and bowling were also amongst her hobbies. She welcomed everyone into her home, life and family.  

Janice is survived by 7 children: Peggy (Ron) Cherney, Glenn (Kim) Nicholson, Lisa Jarman, Karen Nicholson, Nicole (Bryan Panttila) Henquinet, Melissa (Nic) Wienandt and Allison (Manny Davila) Henquinet; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and a son-in-law, Tim Nelson.

She was preceded in death by 3 husbands: Rex Harris, Raymond Nicholson and Arthur Henquinet; a daughter, Paula Nicholson and a son-in-law, Kirk Jarman. 

A celebration of Jan’s life will be held at the AC Tap in Baileys Harbor, WI, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1 PM. To leave an online condolence for the family, please visit www.NewcomerGreenBay.com.
