Obituary: Jean A. Harvey

August 2, 1935 ~ November 7, 2021

Jean Arlene Harvey, 86, of Sturgeon Bay, died on November 7, 2021, at Sturgeon Bay Health Services.  She was born on August 2, 1935, in St. Croix Falls, WI to George and Luella (Olson) Witzel.

Jean was known for her kindness and her love of animals. She loved giving gifts, and would always opt to buy something for someone else before buying for herself. Even when her resources were limited, she would always be sure to include a crisp new $5 bill in birthday cards. When she had a few extra dollars, she would send a check to the Door County Humane Society rather than buying something for herself. Jean loved anything with fur and four legs. For most of her life she had (very spoiled) cats as companions. She passed her love of animals to all of her descendants, and generations of lucky Harvey dogs and cats have benefitted from this.

Survivors include two children, Pamela (Mark) Harvey-Jacobs, Brussels; David (Dawn) Harvey, Goodyear, AZ; two grandchildren, Jessica (Adam) Heikkinen, Brantwood, WI; Derek (Natalie) Harvey, Dallas, TX; three great-grandchildren, Mason, Ethan, and Halle Heikkinen.  She was preceded by her father, mother, step-father, a sister, and a half-brother.

A family gathering and celebration of her life will take place in spring. Memorials can be directed to the Wisconsin Humane Society-Door County Campus.  Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery in Greenfield, WI.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Sturgeon Bay Health Services (formerly The Dorchester). Jean enjoyed a loving and supportive community for the last seven years of her life thanks to the wonderful staff that cared for her every day.
