Obituary: Jeffrey Scott Makie

Jeffrey Scott Makie, 60, of the Town of Sturgeon Bay, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 5, 2018 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay with family at his side, following a 40-year battle with kidney disease.

He was born June 30, 1957 in Gladstone, Mich., the son of Ray and Audrey (Stanlake) Makie. On Sept. 12, 1987, Jeff was united in marriage to Diane Marie Fish at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. They were blessed with more than 30 years of marriage.

Jeff moved to Sturgeon Bay to work in the shipbuilding industry. He was employed as a tool man while at Bay Shipbuilding Co.  Jeff also worked for some time at DoorCo. Throughout his struggles with his illness, he still enjoyed motorcycle riding, attending stock car races, and spending time with his pets, especially his dog, Bear.

Jeff will be deeply missed by his wife, Diane; parents, Ray and Audrey Makie of Gladstone, MI; sister, Lynne (Rudy) Majestic of Gladstone, MI; brother-in-law, Dave (Vicky Klockow) Fish of Sturgeon Bay; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Simonar, Jackie (John) Pierzchalski, both of Sturgeon Bay, Patricia (George Nooyen) Schmidt of Algoma; many nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials at this time to help defray expenses.

“We would like to extend a special thank you to his doctors and the staff of DaVita Dialysis in Sturgeon Bay for all the care given to Jeff these many years, and to his dear friend, Sam for being there.”
