Obituary: John “Jack” Neubauer

July 22, 1942 ~ March 3, 2021

John “Jack” Neubauer, 78, of Apple Valley, California and formerly of Sturgeon Bay died on March 3, 2021 at his home in California.  He was born July 22, 1942 in Connecticut to Carl and Theresa (Vogel) Neubauer.

After graduating from Algoma High School, he earned a degree in education from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.  Jack taught wood shop class at Kewaunee High School for 31 years.  While teaching, he also worked as a farrier (horse shoer) in Door and Kewaunee Counties.

Jack loved sports.  He was a catcher in the Door County Baseball League for many years and played semi-professional football.  In his retirement, he enjoyed following sports and working in his wood shop.  Jack also volunteered his time and wood working skills at the local VFW organization near his home in California. 

On Oct. 27, 1994, he married Linda White at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club.  She survives as do 2 children, Tracy (Eric) Rumbaugh of Milwaukee and John Neubauer of Milton, WI; 3 grandchildren: Christa, Alicia, and Lawson; 2 sisters, Gail (Harry) Baumann and Joanne (Stan) Hoffmann; 3 stepchildren:  Thomas (Ondrea) O’Brien of Brentwood, CA; Jeffrey (Yvonne) O’Brien of Apple Valley, CA; and Eric O’Brien of Lucerne Valley, CA; 4 step-grandchildren: Hannah, Danyel, Thomas, and Nicole.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Dianne (Cliff) Tebon.

Private family services will be conducted at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay.  Burial will follow in Holy Name of Mary Cemetery.
