Obituary: John W. Wolfert

January 21, 1940 – May 10, 2019

John W. Wolfert of Algoma, Wisconsin, died peacefully surrounded by family. John was born in Sturgeon Bay. He is preceded in death by his mother, Adina (Braunsdorf) Wolfert; and father, William Wolfert. Survived by his four children, Pascale Ardaman, Karri Zarzana, Kristin (Wolfert) Newlun, and William Wolfert; two sisters, Johanna (Wolfert) Busch, and Audrey Wolfert; and 12 grandchildren.

Following high school, John proudly joined the United States Army, taking his final position with the United States Air Force before retiring out of the 440th after 20 years of service, proudly earning the rank of TSgt (Technical Sergeant).

Following his retirement from the United States Air Force, John’s passion for machines and mechanics led him to pursue his next career as a machinist, where he enjoyed taking part in the manufacture and production of large diesel engines and mining equipment. After many years as a machinist, he retired and moved back to his hometown of Algoma from Milwaukee.

John was a devoted father, a loving grandpa, and enjoyed his pastime restoring and modifying John Deere tractors and automobiles. He leaves behind many cherished memories and will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those who were blessed to know him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 18, 12 pm, with funeral services to follow at 2 pm at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay.
