Obituary: Joyce Teskie

September 23, 1926 ~ April 29, 2020

 Joyce Teskie, 93, passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 29, 2020.

     Joyce was born Joyce Dorothy Olson on September 23, 1926, daughter of Henry and Lydia Olson, in the Town of Liberty Grove. After World War II, she married Frank Anton Teskie of Gills Rock after his discharge from the US Navy. Frank and Joyce were long-time residents of Gills Rock and Liberty Grove, owning and operating Teskie Fisheries until the  late 1980s and Teskie’s Vacation Cottages until the early 1990s. They enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage together, wintering on Marathon Key, Florida and were life-long members of Shepherd of the Bay Church in Ellison Bay. Frank preceded Joyce in death in 2004.

     Joyce is survived by her two sons, Neil Teskie and Lyle Teskie, Liberty Grove, as well as, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She will be missed for her keen sense of humor and love of laughter.

     A private celebration of Joyce’s life will be held in 2020. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Scandia Village for caring for Joyce, with special thanks to Frances Teskie, RN and Kierra Shumway, RN, for staying with Joyce until she left for eternal glory and to be reunited with Frank, the love of her life.
