Obituary: Judith Elizabeth Fischer

Judith Elizabeth Fischer, 81, of Sturgeon Bay, died Oct. 27, 2016.  She was born Feb. 1, 1935 in Racine to William and Elizabeth (Uvegas) Klaus.  On Feb. 1, 1958, she married Joseph P. Fischer in Racine.

Judy was a graduate of St. Catherine High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Milwaukee.  She worked as an R.N. in geriatrics for many years.  She loved to read and travel.  Judy and her husband recently enjoyed a trip to South Africa.  She was also active in the Learning In Retirement Program at NWTC, serving as president.

She is survived by her husband and 8 children,  Gretchen (John) Hennessey, Anchorage, AK; Jennifer (Mike) Soucie, Moorehead City, NC; Joseph W. Fischer, Grand Island, NY; Fred (Fiancé, Christina) Fischer, Green Bay; Kimberly Fischer, Jacksonville, FL;  Andrew Fischer, Washington D.C.; Anthony Fischer, Charlottesville, VA; and Dr. Joshua (Renee) Fischer, Charlottesville, VA; 18 grandchildren,  Andrew, Rebecca, Larissa, Amelia, Matthew, Nicolas, Christopher, Natalie, Nicole, Joseph B., Amanda, James, Ryan, Adam, William, Thomas, Alex and Andrew. 1 great-grandson, Anthony; 2 brothers, Richard Klaus, Hayward and Thomas Klaus, Sturgeon Bay.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, William and David Klaus.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the Forbes Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Birdsall officiating.  In-lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sunshine House.
