Kathleen Bergsland, 86, of Sturgeon Bay, died at the Skilled Nursing Facility on Dec. 19, 2017. She was born Aug. 8, 1931 in Sturgeon Bay to William and Mary (Breider) Karas. On May 13, 1961 she married George Bergsland. He preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1966.
Kathy was a long-time employee of WDOR Radio and retired in the 1990s. She was a very active member of Hainesville Lutheran Church, serving on the church council, as Sunday School Superintendent and in the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Forestville-Maplewood VFW Auxiliary.
In her later years, Kathy did volunteer work for the Neighbor to Neighbor organization and for the Door County Medical Center Auxiliary. She loved bowling, reading, taking long walks, following the Packers and the Brewers, and going out to dinner with friends.
Survivors include her children, Larry Bergsland, Sturgeon Bay and Christine (Mike) Keyser, Sturgeon Bay; 7 grandchildren, Kelly, Melissa, Molly (Aaron), Tony, Kayden, Teal and Levi; 4 great-grandchildren, Talon, Aubrey, Mia and Nico; sister-in-law, Carol Karas, Sturgeon Bay; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, daughter Linda, son Tom, and in-laws.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017 at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Burial will be in Hainesville Cemetery. On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com.
