Obituary: Kenneth Kostka

April 22, 1934 ~ March 18, 2022

Kenneth A. Kostka, 87, of Sturgeon Bay, died on March 18, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.  He was born April 22, 1934 in Algoma to Anton and Lydia (Rupp) Kostka. 

After high school, Ken served two years in the U.S. Army and then married the love of his life Shirley Schmiling on May 10, 1958.  For many years, he worked as a waste water treatment manager, retiring in 1994 and enjoying many years of retirement. 

Ken was a devoted husband of 63 years and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He was an avid fisherman, golfer, card player, active member of Bay View Lutheran Church.  He loved all sports, especially softball and bowling.  Ken enjoyed yard work, word searches and holiday preparations.

He is survived by his wife, 3 children, Tony (Katherine) Kostka, Glenbeulah, WI; Tim Kostka, Sturgeon Bay; and Karen (Mark) DuFrane, Wausau; 4 grandchildren: Matt (Jessica) Kostka, Kelsey Geenen, Levi (Lacey) DuFrane, Sophie (Will) DuFrane; 5 great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Brenna, Odin, Emrick and Laylah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Kostka, and granddaughter Lydia DuFrane.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, March 25, 2022 at Bay View Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Algoma.  Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of service.  Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  On line condolences may be offered at www.forbesfuneralhome.com
