Obituary: Kenneth M. Severson

October 3, 1919 ~ December 18, 2021

Kenneth M. Severson, 102 years of Sturgeon Bay, formerly of the Town of Egg Harbor, died Saturday evening, December 18, 2021, while at Pine Crest Village.

He was born October 3, 1919, in Forestville, the son of Julius and Edith “Ida” (Mickelson) Severson.  Ken graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1937.  On September 28, 1968, he married Bernice Herbst at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport. He loved to travel with Bernice. With his carpentry skills many projects were created for family and friends.  Ken enjoyed farming and talking about all aspects of it.

Ken was a master carpenter and cabinet maker.  He worked at PBI, and built many homes, retiring in 1981.  He retired from farming in 1966.  He was a humble man, a wonderful husband to Bernice and a man who loved the Lord.

Survivors include his nieces and nephews and families, Mark (Sarah) Sawyer, Bert (Sara) Sawyer, Barbara (Mike) Lautenbach, Julie (Dan) Rehberg, Mary (Philip) Bley; great-nieces and nephews, Josh (Carissa) Sawyer, Nellie (Eric) DeJardin, Emilie (Pat) Nash, Joe (Megan) Sawyer, Christine (Paul) Pierquet, Casey (Kelly) Lautenbach, Megan Lautenbach, Leila (Gregory) Baiza, Jennifer (Dan) Vandenhouten, Robert (fiancé, Brittany) Zettel, Tim Rehberg, Kelly (Adam) Nelson, Sadie (Matt) Ash, Annie (James) Kapolnek, Andrew (fiancé, Trista) Bley, Lucy (Adam) Meinert, Sam Sawyer, Lilly Sawyer; 23 great-great-nieces and nephews; the Severson family, Steven Severson, Marcia Severson Boyer, Alice Rudolph Andrews, and Don (Donna) Rudolph and families, Constance (Jason) Vogel, Kristin (Andy) Conley and David, Rudolph (significant other, Jacqueline Hilbert); three great-nieces, and one newborn great-nephew.

Preceding Ken in death were his parents, Julius “Ida” Severson, brother, Walter (Alfredia) Severson, and sister, Thelma (Edgar) Rudolph.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday (December 23, 2021) at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport with Rev. Peter Lindemann officiating.   Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.  

Friends may call Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m.     Memorials may be directed in his memory for Zion Lutheran School.
