Obituary: Kilton Vandenhouten

Kilton Vandenhouten, 92, of Brussels, died on Jan. 13, 2022.  He was born April 4, 1929 in Brussels to William and Madeline (Deterville) Vandenhouten.  He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955.  On Nov. 4, 1954, he married Monica Mary Kinnard at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lincoln.

Kilton retired from James River Paper Mill after 38 years of employment.  He also had a dairy farm while he worked at the paper mill. During his retirement, he enjoyed helping his son on the farm, cutting his lawn, and watching football.  Kilton was a long time and active member of St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels.  He was also a member of the Forestville-Maplewood American Legion.  He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Monica, four children, Lynn (Robert) Maggle, Sturgeon Bay, Michael (Terri) Vandenhouten, Brussels, Ann (Dennis) Kozlovsky, Green Bay, and Mary (John) Spude, Brussels; 9 grandchildren, Tom (Kayla) Maggle, Kurt Maggle, Marc (Sarah) Vandenhouten, Daniel (Jen) Vandenhouten, Nicole (Morgan) Kozlovsky, Lee (Bridget) Spude, Jared (Amanda) Spude, Katherine (Eric) Lardinois, Luke (Amber) Spude; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Glory Wautlet, Julie Loritz, 2 brothers, Wallace (Erna) Vandenhouten and Gary (Lori) VandenHouten; in-laws,  Vincent (Darlene) Kinnard, Marvin (Donna) Kinnard, Sharon Kinnard, and Allen (Dotty) Kinnard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Lee, grandson Andy Maggle, sister-in-law, Doris Kinnard, brothers-in-law, Mark Kinnard, Norbert Kinnard, Robert Loritz, and parents-in-law, William and Lucy Kinnard.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, Jan. 17, 2022 at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels.  Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery with military honors.  Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00-6:00 pm.  Visitation will continue at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of mass.  A prayer service is scheduled for 5:30 pm on Sunday.
