Obituary: Kristen Turbin

January 28, 1970 ~ November 30, 2021

Kristen Marie Turbin, 51, of Sturgeon Bay, died on Nov. 30, 2021 at Door County Medical Center.  She was born in Milwaukee on Jan. 28, 1970.

Krissy was taken in as a foster child by the Ruth Leitner family when she was a year old.  She grew up in Milwaukee where she attended Fairview School and Pleasant View School.

Krissy was active in the Special Olympics for many years.  She was also a long time employee of the Sunshine House in Sturgeon Bay.  Krissy loved scribbling on paper with her makers, watching her favorite television shows, House and Emergency, eating Pringles and drinking Diet Coke.

She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed teasing her family and friends.  She was always happy to see other people and found great enjoyment in the simple things of live. 

She is survived by 4 sisters, Debra Leitner, Dawn Berendsen, Tanya Staten and Carmen Staten, other relatives, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth Volkmann, her father John Leitner and her brother David Leitner.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, JANUARY 29, 2022 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay.  Burial will be in the Egg Harbor Town Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service.  Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
