Lillian E. Pluff, 92, of Sturgeon Bay, died at the Door County Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born in Sturgeon Bay the daughter, one of 12 children, of the late August and Martha (Seneft) Anderson. Lillian finished 8th grade and then stayed home at 14 years of age to help take care of her brothers and sisters. At 17, Lillian worked in the shipyards during WWII. On Nov. 17, 1945 she married Emery Martin Pluff at Christ Lutheran Church in Liberty Grove. They moved to Baileys Harbor and had a cherry orchard there. He sailed on the Great Lakes for eight years, stopping in 1956. In 1982 they moved to Sturgeon Bay. Lillian worked housekeeping for many years with the Country House Nursing Home, Ephraim Shores Hotel, Edgewater Hotel, the Patio Drive Inn and Motel, and the Knutson House. At Lillian’s request, no public services will be held. Burial will be at Little Sister Cemetery.
