Obituary: Linda Jean Geisel

Linda Jean Geisel, 65, of Brussels, passed away on August 14, 2016 at her home.  She was born May 11, 1951, in Berwyn, Illinois to Ralph and Dorothy (Frank) Luckhard.

Linda graduated from Argo High School in 1969.  In 1970, her family moved to the Town of Gardner and Linda worked for Virginia’s Lunch in Sturgeon Bay.  In November of 1970, at the V Bar in Valmy, she met the love of her life, Roy Geisel, a young country boy from down the road.  They were married on Aug. 12, 1972, at St. Peter and Paul Church in Institute and spent the next 44 years together.

Linda and Roy settled in the Brussels area where they raised their 3 children.  During her life, Linda worked at Doer Electric, Emerson Motors, Econo-Foods, and as a route carrier for the Press-Gazette.  When Emerson closed, Linda went back to school.  At age 54, she graduated from NWTC with a Greenhouse Growers Certificate.  Roy and Linda owned and operated Geisel’s Greenhouse.

Linda loved horseback riding, crafts, ceramics, and also traveling with her husband.  She also made rugs for all of her kids and enjoyed collecting coffee grinders.

Despite the pain of her cancer, Linda never gave up fighting.  Just days after their 44th wedding anniversary, Linda passed away in the arms of her loving husband, Roy.

Survivors include her husband, 3 children: Brad (Trish) Geisel, Brussels; Bryan (April) Geisel, Union; and Brenda Shefchik, Waukesha; 5 grandchildren: Gaige, Gavin, Troy, Amber, and Alivia; her mother Dorothy; brother, Robert (Marilyn) Luckhard, of Maryland; sister, Debbie (Quintin) Serafico, Sturgeon Bay; and in-laws, Bernard and Shirley Geisel, Sturgeon Bay.

She was preceded in death by her father, son Troy Geisel, in-laws, Ronnie and Vionne Beno, Gertrude and Wally Abrahamson and Laura Bell and Robert Fieweger.

Funeral services were held Aug. 18, 2016 at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels.  Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.
