Obituary: Louis J. Denil

Louis J. Denil, age 85, of Sturgeon Bay, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at the Autumn Fields Assisted Living facility. Born July 30, 1930, in Duval, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Harry and Mary (Mathey) Denil.  On Nov. 14, 1950, he married Meome Bader in Lincoln.

For a significant part of his life, Louie, with the help of his loving wife Meome, operated a dairy farm in Brussels which he purchased from his father in 1960. During the same time, Louie also worked at Kewaunee Engineering facility for 43 years. In 1990, Louie and Meome retired from farming and moved to Sturgeon Bay.

In addition to being a great husband, father and provider, Louie enjoyed listening to polka music and was an ardent polka dancer. During his retirement years he also enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Meome (Bader) along with four children: Wayne (Shelly) of Sturgeon Bay; Mark (Julie) of Greensboro, North Carolina; Jerry (Sherri) of Luxemburg; and Tina (Jeff) Braun of Fond du lac; six grandchildren: Angela Denil, Lindsey (Jeremy) Griffith, Derek (Stacie) Denil, Joshua Denil, Christina Braun and Hannah Denil; three brothers, Jim (Dorothy) Denil, Appleton; Hubert (Della) Denil, Manitowoc; Walter (Mildred) Denil, Forestville.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents; 2 grandchildren, Brittany and Nicole Denil; and one brother, Ray (Beatrice) Denil.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2015, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay.  Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.  He will be laid to rest at the Nicolet Memorial Gardens in Bay Settlement following the funeral mass. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the services.  Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
