Obituary: Madonna Jean Starr

Madonna Jean Starr, of Sturgeon Bay, died May 29, 2016.

She was born July 21, 1954 to Rodrick “Rod” and Jean (Moeller) Borchert in Green Bay. She was raised in Sturgeon Bay and graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1972.

On October 19, 1975, she married Robert Starr at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. They had two sons, Andrew and Michael. She loved her sons and always looked forward to heading out to the “The Lake,” her parents’ home on Lake Michigan, with them on the weekends in the summer. She loved spending the days on the beautiful beach near Shivering Sands creek and being with her parents, her brother, Bo, and her boys.

She made some great friends throughout her life, especially her “sister,” Jenner, great friend, Kim, Florida friend, Suzie, and her favorite cousin, Linda. She had numerous dogs throughout her life and most recently, loved “her girls,” poodles Shotzie and Sophie.

Those who knew her well, knew of her love for her family and her Heavenly Father and her Catholic faith. She practiced her faith most Sundays at St. Joseph Catholic Church and also at Our Lady of Good Help Shrine in Champion.

She is survived by her two sons, Andrew (Bridgett) Starr and Michael (Katie) Starr; their father, Robert (Terri) Starr; six grandchildren, Madison, Claire, Drew, Jackson, Owen and Anderson; brother, Robert Borchert; two close cousins, Linda and Nancy; all of Sturgeon Bay; other relatives; and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Bob Stegmann officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit at the church, Friday afternoon, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory for the Door County Humane Society.
