Obituary: Margaret Strom

September 8, 1936 ~ November 27, 2021

Margaret “Marge” Strom, 85, Bellevue resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at a local hospital. She was born on September 8, 1936, in Maplewood, WI, the middle child of the late Laurence and Anna (Bretl) Birdsall. Marge grew up on a farm where she developed a love of animals, gardening and baking. Following graduation from Algoma High School in 1954, Marge attended Holy Family School of Nursing in Manitowoc graduating as a Registered Nurse. She spent her nursing career at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. It was at St. Vincent Hospital that she met Robert “Bob” Strom. They were married on September 9, 1961, at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Maplewood. Bob preceded her in death on December 28, 2003.

It was at St. Vincent’s where Marge developed lifelong friendships with her fellow nurses. She was always a caring person and put many people before her own needs. Marge was a cancer survivor and combined this experience with her nursing skills to mentor other cancer patients through their journey. In addition to raising her five children, she also took great pride in raising and showing rabbits throughout Wisconsin and the United States. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially looking forward to the week long vacation at Lake Tomahawk with her family. She had a passion for flower gardening and baked the best pies. For the last several years her constant “shadow” was her dog, Sofi. Marge had a strong faith, not only living it every day, but raising her family in her faith as well. She adored spending time with her children and grandchildren and was always so very proud of them. Marge was currently a member of Prince of Peace Parish.

Marge is survived by her five children: Sue (Scott) Sauer; Dr Sharon (Steve) Little; Steve (Jackie) Strom; Scott (Shannon) Strom and Sean (Dr. Tami) Strom; three grandchildren, Anna Little, Averson and Jameson Strom; her brother, Rev. Anthony Birdsall and sister, Carol (Dr. Ken) Neuser, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and wonderful friends.

Marge was preceded in death by her in-laws, Francis and Liva Strom; sister-in-law, Sally (Dr. Richard) Dolan and nephew, Michael Dolan.
