Obituary: Margot C. Goode

March 3, 1937 ~ March 1, 2021

Margot C. Goode, 83, resident of Evanston, Illinois and summer resident of Ephraim, Wisconsin, died peacefully on Monday, March 1, 2021 after a sudden stroke.

She was born March 3, 1937, in Evanston, the child of Gordon and Ellen Copeland.  She lived in Wilmette, IL and Neenah, WI for many years before moving back into her childhood home.  She was a 1959 graduate of Iowa State University, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.

Margot loved her Swedish heritage.  She had interest in learning the language and culture, and flew her Swedish flag with pride.  She believed life was precious and was determined to live her life to the fullest.  She cherished time with her family and many dear friends.   She loved nature and the beauty of the outdoors and looked forward to spending every summer at her beloved cottage in Ephraim.  She also found happiness volunteering at the Wilmette Public Library, the Presbyterian Nursing Home in Evanston, and in Door County at Bargains Resale Shop.

Margot is survived by her daughter, JoAnn (Barry) Birkholz; son, Scott (Debi) Mundt; and four grandchildren, Sarah and Eric Birkholz and Justin and Colton Mundt.  John’s three children and five grandchildren also felt blessed to be a special part of Margot’s life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Ellen Copeland and her husband, John E. Goode.

Margot will be buried during a private interment at Blossomberg Cemetery in Peninsula State Park, Door County.  There will be a celebration of Margot’s life for her dear friends and family when it is safe to gather together again.
