Obituary: Marshall B. Hanks Jr.

June 6, 1943 ~ February 4, 2021

Marshall B. Hanks Jr, 77, of Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully in his home on February 4th, 2021. He was born in Fort Hood, Texas to Marshall Sr and Jane (Anderson) Hanks on June 6th, 1943. He married the love of his life, Marilyn, on April 11, 1964 in Geneva, IL and then moved to Door County in 1969.

He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 50 years. He owned his own businesses, including a partnership in Scuba-Do Dive Team as well as founder of Door County Pest Control. Many, both locally and throughout 33 states, referred to him as “Batman”.

Marshall was an outstanding husband father who led by example. He was known by family and friends as a trusted, loyal, and generous man as well as a father figure to so many. He enjoyed sharing his hope from the Bible with others and looked forward to a better life as it was meant to be. His hobbies included, fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time outside with his wife.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn (Wermich) and his brother Michael. Survivors include his son Scott (Tiffany) Hanks; son Tim (Tangela) Hanks; son Andy (Nora) Hanks; daughter Heidi (TJ) Lautenbach; siblings, Judy (Len) Graham; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend appreciation for all the loving care provided by the Unity Hospice staff. A special thanks to Angie, Jessica and all the nurses.

Services for Marshall will be conducted at a later date.  Forbes Funeral Home is in assisting the family with arrangements.
