Obituary: Marvin T. Bjarnarson

Marvin T. Bjarnarson, age 80, a Manitowoc resident, died Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc following complications from a stroke.
He was born on January 17, 1936 on Washington Island, Wisconsin, son of the late Marvin O. & Cecilia B. (Gunnlaugsson) Bjarnarson. On June 20, 1959 he married Darlene Young in Menominee, Michigan. Marvin was a painter at Burger Boat for 32 years until his retirement at age 59. Marvin loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing with his wife Darlene and playing billiards. Marvin was a member of the Manitowoc Senior Center and a member of the Manitowoc Eagles Aerie #706 for over 30 years. He also enjoyed walking two miles every day.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years: Darlene Bjarnarson, Manitowoc; three children: Debbie & Brian Silva, GA., Penny & Barry Boeckman, Manitowoc, Corey Bjarnarson, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren: Aubrey (Jonathan) Vinke and their children: Eva & Levi, Ryan Silva, Danielle (Nic) Bolle and their children: Dominic & Abigail, Zachery Boeckman, Amber Boeckman, Nicholas & Preston Bjarnarson; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Shirley Carriveau, Manitowoc, Janice Camp, CA., Raymond Young, CA., and Harold & Jane Young, FL. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law; one granddaughter: Katelyn Bjarnarson; one sister: Pat Bjarnarson; and one brother-in-law: Richard Young.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 3, 2016 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, following a short service by the Manitowoc Eagles Aerie #706. Officiating at the Service will be Pastor Roger Harrison. Cremation will occur after the service at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and Marvin will be laid to rest at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to The Special Olympics or American Heart Association.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, are assisting the family with funeral arrangements. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Shady Lane for the care given to Marvin.
