Obituary: Mary M. (Gerstner) Honold

November 4, 1951 ~ May 13, 2023

Mary M. Honold, 71 years of Brussels, died Saturday, May 13, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born November 4, 1951, in Green Bay, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mildred (Cherney) Gerstner. She attended Preble High School. On September 3, 1983, she married Steven A. Honold at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport. They would have been married 40 years this year.

Mary worked for Emerson Motors for many years until it’s closing. It was at that time she found her life’s calling in nursing care. She received her CNA license at NWTC and worked at Anna’s in New Franken until her retirement. It was caring for others that created special bonds between her and her clients which held special significance in her own life.  About one year ago in 2022, Mary was diagnosed with cancer and began optimistically treating it.

Our dear wife, mother, and grandmother will be known for her baking skills, especially the bread she baked.  It was sought after and longed for by everyone who tasted it.   Every year Mary looked forward to and loved camping with her family and friends and building campfires to gather around.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.
