Maynette “Momzie” Christine Jutila, 72, of Sturgeon Bay, died on Sunday, July 2, 2023 while in the comfort of her home, with family at her side.

She was born on Washington Island on September 23, 1950, the daughter of Maynard George Gunnlaugsson, Sr. and Nora Lillian (Sando) Gunnlaugsson. May grew up attending Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church on Washington Island. She graduated from Washington Island High School with the class of 1968 and moved to Sturgeon Bay soon after that.

May met Timothy Michael Jutila while bowling in league at Worley’s (now Apple Valley Lanes) in Sturgeon Bay. They were united in marriage on February 2, 1994. May and Tim enjoyed bowling in leagues at Cherry Lanes, Worley’s, Apple Valley Lanes, all in Sturgeon Bay. She was inducted into the Door County USBC Bowling Hall of Fame on October 24, 2008. May bowled as she lived her life: with determination and perseverance.

She enjoyed playing softball earlier in life and golfing with Tim later on.

May bought Tip Top Cleaners (laundromat and dry cleaning) on Kentucky Street in Sturgeon Bay from Jack and Janet Schultz in 2004 and operated that until March of 2022.

Her family meant the world to her, and she loved them dearly. May will be missed by her husband, Tim, with whom she shared over 29 years of marriage; son, Thomas (Samantha) Keller II of Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren, Thomas III “TJ” Keller, Devon Keller, Makayla (Emma) Carrion, and Taylor Mae Keller, great-grandson, Kaden; sisters, Lillian Justice of Manila, IA, Martina (Rip) Koken of Elkmont, AL, Jeanette “Jeanie” (Larry) Young, and Kathy (Jim Lindgren) Gunnlaugsson, both of Washington Island, siblings-in-law, Penny Gunnlaugsson of Sturgeon Bay, Edward (Donna) Jutila FL, and Ellen Hastings of NC; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and dear friends.
