Obituary: Michael Brian Tucholski

December 22, 1947 ~ December 20, 2022

Michael Brian Tucholski, of Sturgeon Bay, died at home with family at his side on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 after a 2-month cancer diagnosis. Mike was 74 years old.

He was born December 22, 1947 in Milwaukee and served his country for four years in the United States Air Force and then for another four years in the Air Force Reserves. Mike was a Vietnam Vet.

He followed in his father’s footsteps and became a ham radio operator as an amateur extra with the call sign NS9X. Mike enjoyed working contacts all over the world and collecting their QSL cards.

His career spanned over 40 years in the automotive service industry, starting as a mechanic and then in management as a GM service manager. Mike loved fast cars, especially from the 1960s and 1970s.

He married Karen Marie Barr on December 16, 1978, and they just celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. Mike was the father of two sons, Brian, and Steven. He loved his family and was very proud of the men his sons had grown into.

Mike enjoyed the outdoors, loved cutting trees in the woods, and splitting the wood by hand. He loved planning little getaways with Karen in their retirement. Mike’s hobby was rockhounding and making cabochons out of the treasures he would find.

He leaves behind a wife, Karen; sons, Brian (Katie Nigl) of Oshkosh and Steven (Sarah) of Sturgeon Bay; and many relatives; and friends.

Mike was preceded by his parents, Chester “Chet” Francis Tucholski and Myrtle Margaret (nee Kurth) Tucholski; and other relatives.

Per his wishes, Mike was cremated and no services are planned.

Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the Unity Hospice team for their help and support.”
