Obituary: Michael George “Mic” Werth

Michael George “Mic” Werth, 84, died at Scandia Health Center in Sister Bay Wisconsin on Thursday, December 1st, 2022.

Michael was a chef by trade, something he became fascinated with while cooking with his grandma Werth in their family home. He told stories of some of the recipes he still used that grandma shared with him. Mike honed his skills further while in the Air Force. He worked his way up from a general cook to the head chef for the officers club. He loved what he did. He shared his expertise many times in the homes of friends and family … he was always most at home preparing food for others.

He resided in Door County for the past 45 years and worked as a chef at a number of establishments during that time, while spending some of his winters in Australia further developing his culinary skills. When he retired he moved to Senior Housing on Washington Island, and he enjoyed making meals for some of the residents on Sundays.  He made many lifelong friends while living in Door County.  

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Scandia for the care and expertise, especially Patti, Roberta, Joy, Julie, Drew, and Dr. Johnson as well as the entire nursing staff and nursing assistants, kitchen staff and housekeeping staff.
