Obituary: Mildred Matilda Ehlers

Mildred Matilda Ehlers, 98, of Algoma, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.

She was born August 11, 1919 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late Fredrick Earnest and Elsie (Diefenbach) Wilke Sr. Millie married Roland Alfred Ehlers on September 20, 1939 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Valmy. They were blessed with over 55 years of marriage. Roland preceded Millie in death on July 24, 1995.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. Millie always enjoyed a good visit with her neighbors and friends. She liked gardening, canning, playing solitaire, crocheting, and babysitting her grandchildren when they were infants.

Millie’s love will live on in the hearts of her daughter and son, Susan (William) Kezo of Algoma and Ronald Ehlers of Manitowoc; grandchildren, Ryan (Angela) Kezo, Chris Kezo, both of Algoma, and Russel Ehlers of Manitowoc; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Malachi, Micah, Hannah, and Ezra Kezo, Jacob, Nathan, Casey, Amanda, Sarah, and Matthew Ehlers; and many, many great-great-grandchildren; brother, Fredrick (Irene) Wilke Jr.; Godchild, Jeanie Tott; niece, Marge Conrad; many other nieces and nephews; and her dear friends and neighbors at Grand View Terrace Apartments in Algoma.

She was welcomed Home by her parents; husband; sons, James and Robert; sisters, Grace (Gary) Schumacher, Shirley Ann Wilke, Dorothy (Robert) Rish; granddaughter, Tracey Ehlers; nephew, George Tott; nephew, Robert Rish RN (killed in the Vietnam War); and daughters-in-law, Mae and Judy Ehlers.

Funeral services for Millie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Pastor Carl Schroeder officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum at Nicolet Memorial Gardens in the Town of Scott, Green Bay.

Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Huehns Funeral Home and will continue on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family of Millie.
