Obituary: Nancy Marie (Woller) Tlachac

April 1, 1939 ~ December 21, 2021

Nancy Marie Tlachac, 82, of Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 in the comfort of her home.

She was born April 1, 1939 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Marvin and Olive (Ahlswede) Woller. Nancy graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School with the Class of 1957. As a young woman, she worked as a telephone operator and later in retail at Shoe Rack and Prange’s. On May 16, 1959, Nancy and Giles Anthony Tlachac were united in marriage at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. They spent 55 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death on February 6, 2014, shortly after spending their 54th wedding anniversary in a picturesque castle in Tuscany, Italy.

Nancy was a devoted mother who was actively involved in support of all of the activities that her children took an interest in. She loved warm weather, sailing, and gardening; and has successfully created one of the most beautiful flower gardens in Sturgeon Bay. Her plants came from as far away as Holland, and the beautiful presentation of flowers that bloomed continuously throughout the growing season could grace the cover of any home and garden magazine. Nancy also loved and cared for her furry and feathered friends. Bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks, and birds who were tamed by her kindness, (along with apple slices or their favorite treat), would approach her with ease, sometimes eating right out of her hand or under her feet! Walking with Nancy in her garden was always good for your soul and a memory that we will all cherish forever.

Nancy will be missed by her children, Craig (Donna) Tlachac of Vista, California, Paula Tlachac-Gardner of Redondo Beach, California, Tony (fiancée, Jill Radtke) Tlachac of Eau Claire, and Ann (Luigi) Valsangiacomo of Switzerland; grandchildren, Chelsea (Jeremy) Curtright, Tyler (Stephanie) Tlachac, Justin (Andrenae) Tlachac, Hana Gardner, Haylee Campbell, Luca Valsangiacomo, and Massimo Valsangiacomo; great-granddaughter, Chloe Curtright; sisters-in-law, Delores, Millie, and Dorothy Tlachac; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Olive Woller; husband, Giles Tlachac; sons, Joseph and Peter Tlachac; siblings, Stanley Woller and Sally (Eugene) Ewaskowitz; brothers-in-law, Bernard, Adrian, and Donald Tlachac; and nephew, Michael Tlachac.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Huehns Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Huehns Funeral Home to assist with the funeral costs or to Sunshine House in remembrance of her son, Peter.
