Obituary: Nedra Ann Johnsrud

Nedra Ann Johnsrud, 88, of Sturgeon Bay, died April 5, 2018 at Anna’s Health Care in Sturgeon Bay.  She was born Feb. 14, 1930 in Clay Banks to Norman and Freda (Bohn) Nelson.  On Jan. 16, 1949 she married Arnold E. Johnsrud Sr. at Tanum Church.  He preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 2010.

After high school, Nedra attended Normal School in Kewaunee County for two years.  She later worked at Plumbers Woodwork in Algoma for 29 years.  Nedra was a life long member of Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church where she was active in the Women’s group, served on the church council and did custodial work in her retirement.  She was also a very active member of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Nedra was a great hostess and enjoyed making meals for family friends, especially on the holidays.  She also enjoyed making lefse and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include 5 children, Ann Ostrand, Sturgeon Bay; Norman (Laura) Johnsrud, Sturgeon Bay; Arnold (Jeanne) Johnsrud Jr.,  Algoma; Nelson (Jane) Johnsrud, Manitowoc; and Annette Johnsrud, Green Bay;  grandchildren, Russell (Tina) Ostrand, Sara (Kris) Kopach, Darcy (Sid) Geldmeyer, Raymond Johnsrud, Jody (Renee) Johnsrud, Stacy (Gus) Graf, Jesse (fiancé McKenzie Mueller), Adam (special friend Angie) Johnsrud, great-grandchildren, Brian and Missy Burmeister, Mandy (Keith) Deschaine, Eleanor Graf, Alexa Jo Neuenfeldt; 7 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Hazel Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Julie Lynn, 3 grandchildren, Rodney, Tara, and Camranh; brother Rodney (Kay) Nelson, sister Norma (Fred) Waterstreet and other in-laws.

Funeral services will be held Saturday April 14, 11 am at Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Tanum Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service.  Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com.
