Obituary: Pasquel Ortiz Gonzales

May 17, 1959 ~ August 30, 2022

Pasquel Ortiz Gonzales, 63, of the Town of Sturgeon Bay, died at home on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. He had been dealing with various health issues over the years.

Pasquel was born May 17, 1959 in Laredo, TX, the son of Ignacio and Aurelia (Ortiz) Gonzales. His family moved to Door County in 1968, and he attended Liberty Grove School in Sister Bay and then Gibraltar High School in Fish Creek where he graduated with the class of 1979.

Pasquel’s career in carpentry and construction began back in high school when he worked for Carl Carlson Builders and providing the underwater welding for various projects. After high school, he worked as a carpenter for Proctor & Gamble in Green Bay. Pasquel was employed as journeyman carpenter with Miron Construtction in the Green Bay area through the Union Local 1146 and was proud to have helped with the Lambeau Field renovation.

He first met Tina Marie Annoye back in 1989, and they were married twelve years later on July 7, 2001. They welcomed their first and only child, Payton, just a few years later in 2003. Pasquel and Tina shared nearly 14 years of marriage.

He enjoyed the outdoors with his family, especially his son, Payton – biking and walking in Green Bay, and searching for rocks. They initially lived in Ashwaubenon before living on the east side of Green Bay. Pasquel also liked working on cars. He was a good drawer (evident in his doodles). Game time was serious within the Gonzales family with games like Jenga, pokeno, and spoons. Pasquel will also be remembered for his sense of humor and joking around.

He will be deeply missed by his son, Payton Gonzales of Algoma; former wife, Tina Gonzales of Algoma; siblings, Marie Gonzales, Jim (special friend, Carol) Gonzales, both of Sturgeon Bay, Louis (Denise) Gonzales of Luxemburg, Denise (Tim) Schulz, Augustine (special friend, Joan) Gonzales, both of Sturgeon Bay, and Sylvia (Sean) Billotte of Wrightstown; nephews and nieces, Tyler (Lucy) Gonzales and Goddaughter, Brittany (David) Hupke, Andrea (fiancé, Christopher Jorgenson) Butler, Kristen (fiancé, Jedidiah Hillsabeck) Schulz, Stephen Faustini, and Jacob Schulz, Leslie and Godson,  Mikeal Billotte; great-nephews and great-nieces, Bruce and Maria Gonzales, Wyatt and Elaina Hupke, Violet and Indigo Hillsabeck, Legend Billotte; and friends.

Pasquel was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters-in-law, Gail Gonzales and Mari Beth Jorns Gonzales; and other relatives.

His life will be celebrated, privately, by family.

The Gonzales family would like to thank Tina for her continuous care and concern for Pasquel over the years.
