Obituary: Paul E. Muckerman

Paul Edward Muckerman, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, died Oct. 22, 2016 at his family home in Egg Harbor, Wis. Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carol Cooper Muckerman, his four children Mary Lewis, Paul (Elizabeth) Muckerman, Jr. Christine (Tony) Popanz, and Susie (Scott) Hudspeth. Thirteen grandchildren Daniel, Kristen, and Carolyn Lewis, Alexandra (Shelby) Zafiropoulos, Madison, Brooke, Claire, and Amelia Muckerman, Allison and Chloe Popanz, Cooper, Morgan and Harriett Hudspeth. Paul was preceded in death by his eight siblings, James, William, Ralph, Marietta Flynn, Joan Murphy, Audrey Kriegshauser, David and Lucie Muckerman. He is survived by his sister in-law Pat Kriegshauser Muckerman.

Paul was born on February 14, 1931 to Alexander and Mary Shulte Muckerman in St. Louis, Missouri. Paul attended Barat Hall and graduated from Chaminade College Preparatory School in 1948. He attended Notre Dame University and Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri where he earned a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1952. He was a member of the Alpha Pi Mu; Industrial Engineering Honor Society.

Paul proudly served as an Ensign in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1955. In 1956, Paul and his brother Ralph founded Delta Gear Company and later merged with Alliance Tool Company in St. Louis.

In 1985 Paul retired to Naples, Florida and shared his time between Naples and Egg Harbor, Wisconsin. Paul had many friends in Egg Harbor, Naples and St. Louis. Paul enjoyed sports and was an avid tennis player and golfer. He especially enjoyed times with his family in Egg Harbor and Naples. Paul was a member of Stella Maris Parish – St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Egg Harbor, WI and St. William Catholic Church in Naples, FL. He was a member of Royal Poinciana Golf Club in Naples, FL and was a founding member of Horseshoe Bay Golf Club in Egg Harbor, WI.

The family would like to thank Paul’s many caregivers, especially his nurse and friend Bridget Browning Myszka. The family would also like to thank Stella Maris Parish for their pastoral care, Ministry Door County Medical Center and Unity Hospice.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 28th at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 7710 State Hwy 42, Egg Harbor, Wisconsin. Visitation at 10 am with mass to follow at 11 am. Interment St. John the Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chaminade College Preparatory School, 425 S Lindbergh Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63131 or Stella Maris Parish, PO Box 49, Egg Harbor, WI, 54209.

Casperson Funeral Home of Sister Bay will assist the family.
