Obituary: Paul Hurley

May 14, 1956 ~ July 29, 2020

Paul Andrew Hurley, 64, of Sevierville, TN and Panama City Beach, FL, passed away July 29, 2020.

Paul was born to Joseph and Maxine (Verhoef) Hurley on May 14, 1956 in Evergreen Park, IL.  He graduated from the Great Lakes Maritime Academy in 1978.  He worked for American Steamship Company before retiring as Chief Engineer from Great Lakes Freighters.

Paul lived in Bay County, FL from 1978 to 2019 where he enjoyed boating and fishing with family and friends.

He married Janet in October 2002 and they have spent their time between Florida and their tranquil retreat in the Smoky Mountains.

Paul is predeceased by his mother and father, sister Ann Marie, and brother Mark.

He is remembered by his wife Janet, two children Jennifer (Jordan) and Paul Joseph who he shared with Cindy, stepchildren Jennifer and Matthew, a granddaughter Parker as well as many others who honor him as a father figure.  He is also survived by brother Joseph (Sandra) and nephews Jon (Kerry) and Steven (Jordanne), sisters-in-law Caron (Rick) and Lynn (Sam), brothers-in-law Kurt (Patty) and Mark (Sylvia).

Those who knew him remember him as a talented craftsman and builder who was always immersed in a project.  He was incredibly generous to friends and neighbors, especially those experiencing challenges.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 7 from 10 am – 11 am at Forbes Funeral Home, Sturgeon Bay, WI, with funeral service to follow at 11 am.
