Obituary: Paul J. Goetz


Paul J. Goetz, 64, of Sturgeon Bay, in the Town of Nasewaupee, died suddenly, Monday morning, November 23, 2015, at Ministry Door County Medical Center emergency room. He was battling cancer.

He was born Paul Joseph Goetz on January 10, 1951, in Sturgeon Bay, the son of the late Joseph and Lucille (Weldon) Goetz. Following his graduation from Southern Door High School in 1969, Paul served his country with the United States Marines until 1971. He drove for Greyhound Bus Lines for 20 years until his retirement.

Paul was known by many for his love and enjoyment of fishing. He also enjoyed time spent hunting. Paul loved being outdoors, and we would describe him to you as an all-around good guy.

Survivors include his close friend, Susan Hayes of the Town of Nasewaupee; three sons, John (Connie) Goetz, Richard Goetz, Justin (Rachel) Goetz, all of Missouri; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Goetz of Little Sturgeon; two sisters, Marlene Schrank of Manitowoc, and Mary Meissner Goetz of Little Sturgeon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Fr. Carl Schmitt as celebrant. Military honors will follow at church. Burial will be in Stevenson Cemetery, Little Sturgeon.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday evening, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with a parish wake service to be held at 7:30 p.m. with Deacon Ray Ambrosius officiating. Visitation will continue at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Saturday morning, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
